How to setup your profile in RTFP

After you have started the Flight Planner program you will initially be presented with the default screen, which depicts North America and the latest temporary flight restrictions in the United States.
This screen is accessed with a Tab at the top labeled “Enroute Chart”.
There are three additional tabs labeled “NavLog, Flight Plan, and Weather”. These tabs will display information based on your planned route once you have entered this data or on information based on your “stored route”

Setup your Pilot Profile.
Go to the Menu bar:
Click on “Edit”
“Pilot”
This brings up a screen where you can enter your name, address, and preferred DUATS provider (DTC or CSC) information. Your personal information is necessary for filing FAA flight plans. Include your DUATS access code and password to be able to automatically connect with DUATS when you wish to retrieve real-time weather reports and weather graphics to overlay your flight-plan route.

Pilots with a U.S. medical certificate may obtain a free DUATS access code and password from either or both providers.

CSC: http://www.duats.com/duats.cgi
CSC phone: (800)345-3828
Setup your Aircraft Profile.
Go to the Menu bar:
Click on “Edit”
“Aircraft”
This brings up a selection menu from where you can “Select Aircraft” stored in your aircraft profile, “Edit Current Aircraft” profile, and “Create New Aircraft” profile. You can store basic aircraft profiles, including specific performance stats such as climb, cruise, descent rates, and fuel burn.
Setup your Flight Plan.
Go to the Menu bar:
Click on “Preflight”
“Plan Route”

This brings up a “Flight Plan” splash screen in to which you can enter route- planning information. You can select “direct” or “airway” routing. Once you have entered a route it will display on the enroute chart.

Save or Load Saved Routes.
  Go to the Menu bar:
Click on “File”
“Save/Load Routes”
This brings up a “Route Management” splash screen that allows you to save and retrieve stored routes.

Setup your User-Defined Waypoints.
Go to the Menu bar:
Click on “Edit”
“User-Defined Waypoint”
This brings up a “Select Default Icon” splash screen that allows you to select and name an icon you wish to use as the default for user-defined waypoints. You can include comments and notes if you wish. These waypoints are a means for you to customize your chart. They are saved with the program and will continue to display each time you open the flight-planning chart.
